1) Time and day : 2:00pm-3:30pm (Japan Standard Time), 1st August (Friday), 2025
2) Place : Place: Seminar room of International Project Lab, Department of Civil Engineering, UTokyo (3rd floor of Engineering Building No.11, Hongo Campus, UTokyo) and Zoom meeting room
3) Presentation
– Presenter: Prof. Bin Ran (Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor and Director of ITS Program, the University of Wisconsin at Madison)
– Title: Al Empowered Vehicle-Road-Cloud System for Autonomous Driving
– Abstract: The AI empowered autonomous driving system is relying heavily on the Vehicle-Cloud (VC) or Vehicle-Road-Cloud (VRC) platforms. Initially, this report will review the generational development of autonomous mobility system and discuss the scale of work for autonomous mobility in the US, China, and Europe. Then, it will present the system architecture for AI empowered autonomous mobility system. Specifically, it will discuss the system architecture from multiple perspectives, including system approach, safe system approach, and AI approach. The AI model system for autonomous mobility will be discussed in details. A three-layer AI model architecture will be explored, including the world model, the task-layer strategy model, and the end-to-end execution model. The application and impact of AI large models on autonomous mobility will be analyzed. Subsequently, it will discuss about the practice of Vehicle-Cloud (VC) or Vehicle-Road-Cloud (VRC) Systems in US, China, and Europe.
